Statistical Learning

This is an MS-level course for the online MCS-DS (MS in Computer Science-Data Science) students. This course introduces modern techniques for statistical analysis of complex and massive data. Examples of these include model selection for regression, classification, nonparametric models such as splines and kernel models, regularization, dimension reduction, and clustering analysis. Applications are discussed, as well as computation and theoretical foundations.

This course provides a graduate level foundation in fundamental mathematical statistics topics including order statistics, exponential families, sufficiency, Rao-Blackwell theorem, Cramer-Rao lower bound, point estimation, hypothesis testing and interval estimation, likelihood and Bayesian methods, and large-sample asymptotics
